[MCP] Help with "good news" on social justice education

Thank you so much, I will take the time to read the articles to seek.
However, I am in Florida. At this point I work at a non-profit
(www.communitytampabay.org) and our vision is a community free from all
forms of discrimination. I conduct one day long conferences in elementary,
middle and high schools (along with a week long diversity awareness summer
program) discussing diversity issues and promoting respect among cultures
and inclusion. However, the schools don't feel strongly that this is a
priority, when their teens are failing at algebra and English. I am
wondering if there is research out there that suggests, working out issues
of respect, identity, diversity and culture has a positive impact on
academics. Thank you for taking the time. I really appreciate it!

With the increase in academic rigor and achievement that our current culture
has, I am seeking resources that support and provide evidence for the need
of educating youth and adults on multicultural and diversity issues. What
resources (research, films, books, facts, statistics, etc.) do you have that
support this endeavor ? Do we know that multicultural education, diversity
dialogue and awareness enhances academic achievement?
