[MCP] High expectations

A teacher of the same ethnicity will have a certain expectation but I don't 
know if it will be high or low.  Many people of the same ethnicity have are 
prejudice  against their own people and choose to see themselves as special. 
When they see students in the classroom they may look at them with the 
expectations that the rest of the world views and become even harder on them 
than someone of another ethnicity.  It seems strange that a teacher from the 
same neighbhood would not see the students in that neighborhood as similar 
to them but it happens.  Many of these ppeople will disassociate themselves 
from their ethnicity at all levels.

It is also true that a teacher of the same ethnicity should have a better 
understanding of what these students are going through and should be able to 
challenge them and prepare them for what the world will present but I just 
wanted to put another twist on the scenerio with my comments above.
