Subject: [MCP] multicultural education: what do we know works?
Friends,
I am working with some parents and teachers to present to our school board some ideas to change the way we teach multicultural awareness in our school.
Some of these ideas may cost money. (For example, hiring immigrant parents as school aids.)
I know at least two Board members will say "is there any empirical research that confirms multicultural instruction will (a) reduce truancy (b)raise test scores (c) reduce violence in our middle school...or (d) anything that has been measured?"
Does anyone out there know of any research conclusions regarding multicultural education...or a URL where I might find some?
respectfully,
Richard Jones
