  This is not the first time this argument has come up. About 10 years ago, there was a push to remove her book from the high school booklists. Some parents stated they were "disturbed" about the rape scene in the book. However, when you looking at what students are encouraged to read, such as Shakespeare, there is an imbalance in their arguments. Shakespeare is loaded with controversial issues such as teen suicide in Romeo and Juliet.
